Hello, I’m Dr. Phil Slonkosky, Chief Science Geek here at Integrative Health Supplements. In this video, I’m going to talk to you about what you need to look for when purchasing a phytocannabinoid-rich CBD hemp oil.
Now, this video is about CBD found in hemp. This is an important distinction, because CBD can come from marijuana plants as well. But for this video, we’re going to discuss and focus on CBD hemp oil products, phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil products from hemp, okay?
If you Google YouTube, and you Google CBD oil, you’re going to find a variety of articles, news segments, stories about the inconsistencies that are found with the different CBD products that are made. This can be very confusing, and almost leave you feeling overwhelmed and confused because some of the products are even known to contain heavy metals and pesticides. Are you starting to feel concerned? I mean, I would.
Guidelines for Buying CBD Oil
Well, here are some guidelines that we think will be helpful for you when shopping for a good, safe and effective CBD oil.
1. Buy CBD from American Grown Hemp
Now, the first thing you need to do, is you need to make sure that the oil you buy is from American grown hemp. There are a variety of products on the market that are sourced from overseas. Now, oversees growing of hemp is not as closely regulated here, and this ensures that the product is clean and pure.
2. Buy CBD that’s Organic & Chemical-Free
Number two, you want to make sure that the source of your oil is organic and free from chemicals, heavy metals and toxins. The way to do this, is you look for a lab report. Now, a number of products out there have a QRS code that’s on the bottle that you can scan with your phone, and it will take you to the lab report at the product’s website.
Now, some states have implemented the QRS codes to try and regulate CBD to ensure that you, the consumer, know what you’re getting. Many times we don’t pay close attention to the ingredients in products that we purchase, but when shopping for hemp oil, that is one thing you definitely need to pay attention to.
Now, you want to be sure to request the lab report if there’s not a QRS code. You can go to the website or online, but you need to be certain of what it is you’re buying.
3. Buy CBD that’s Broad Spectrum & Phytocannabinoid-Rich
Number three, you want to look for a Broad Spectrum form of a phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil. Now, the term Broad Spectrum means that the product contains full plant extract. This includes things that are known as terpenes and flavonoids and omega’s, and all the other cannabinoids present in the hemp. Now, this also can include less than 0.3% concentration of THC.
Now, if you’re looking for a THC-free oil, it may be dubbed Broad Spectrum or broad spectrum. The main thing is, confirm that there is something that says zero THC if that is indeed what you’re looking for.
Research continues to show that a product that is Broad Spectrum is more effective than isolate and distillate forms, and perhaps it’s because the latter don’t contain all the terpenes, flavonoids, and all these other cannabinoids.
4. Buy CBD without Preservatives or Artificial Flavoring
Number four, watch out for any extra chemicals and preservatives and artificial flavoring agents, which may be harmful to your health. We talked about knowing the source, where it’s coming from. Well, just make sure that you’re looking on the ingredients and that they’re using natural carrier oils.
5. Know the Amount of CBD per Serving
Number five, it’s important to know the amount of CBD per serving, instead of just the amount of CBD on the bottle. Labels continue to evolve and change based on the ever changing and developing regulations implemented to ensure that all the products are safe and effective. But make sure, again, that you know what you’re buying.
6. Ask Questions before you Buy CBD
Number six, don’t hesitate to contact the company and ask questions. Transparency is essential at a time like this for a product such as this, and especially those that we ingest and put inside our bodies.
Choosing what CBD to buy can definitely seem overwhelming, and what we have found by working with our clients is that no matter what brand you choose, it’s going to take you time to find the dose, and maybe even the product, that works best for you.
Now, some people experience immediate results and an improved quality of life, while others need to adjust dosing, and sometimes, yeah, find a different brand that works noticeably better.
We hope that these above tips are going to give you a better first experience, do some of the legwork for you, so you know what to look for so you can be on your way to living a healthier and happier life.
